iDiOM Theater, a company dedicated to fostering local writing talent, is thrilled to announce two unique opportunities for aspiring playwrights to hone their craft. Led by iDiOM's Founder and Director, Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao, these courses promise to be immersive experiences designed to unleash participants' creativity and refine their skills in the art of playwriting.

Online Playwriting Course via Zoom: 6 Saturday classes beginning April, 13

Embark on a journey of artistic exploration from the comfort of your own home with our Online Playwriting Course conducted via Zoom. This virtual workshop offers participants the flexibility to engage with the course material and connect with fellow writers from anywhere in the world. Classes are scheduled on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm (Pacific Time) and will cover the basic nuts and bolts of playwriting format, storytelling, and structure. Additionally, participants will delve into more advanced techniques through our six lenses of playwriting: time, space, language, theatricality, audience dynamic, and rule-making. This class will equip writers of all experience levels with new tools to build worlds on stage. Saturdays, 10am - 1pm 4/13, 4/20, 5/4, 5/18, 6/1, 6/15 (option to continue six more class with our full-length play class) $275

In-Person Playwriting Course in Bellingham, WA: 6 Saturday classes starting April, 13

For those seeking a more immersive learning experience, join us in  Bellingham, WA for our In-Person Playwriting Course. Hosted at iDiOM Theater's headquarters, this course offers participants the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and collaborate with fellow writers in a supportive environment. Classes will be held on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm,  and will cover the same comprehensive curriculum as the online course. Saturdays, 10am - 1pm 4/13, 4/27, 5/11, 5/25, 6/8, 6/22 - $275

6 MONTH PLAYWRITING

Begins with either of the above classes - in person or Via ZOOM, and continues through the summer with an every week schedule and hybrid (in person / ZOOM) class focusing on the completion of a full-length script.

Either of the above schedules plus 10am - 1pm classes July 13, 20, 27, and August 3, 10, 17 - $595

Both courses will cover essential topics such as character development, plot structure, dialogue, and the revision process. Participants can expect a blend of theoretical discussions, practical exercises, and constructive critiques aimed at nurturing their unique voice as playwrights.

Spring  classes are taught by iDIOM Artistic Director, Glenn Hergenhahn-Zhao and are held at the new iDIOM Studio, upstairs at 1417 Cornwall Avenue, Bellingham.

One day Acting Workshop. 4/14 10am - 1pm

ONE DAY ACTING WORKSHOP

SUNDAY, April 14 - 10am - 1pm

Our one-day acting workshop lets actors jump right into acting fundamentals, playing short scenes and games and exercises to introduce the principals of Meisner-based acting. Open to actors of all levels. 

MONOLOGUE / AUDITON 

3 TUESDAYS - April 16, 23, 30 - 6pm - 7:30pm

Three monologue auction workshops to give actors new skills and performance techniques to take monologues to a new level and be prepared for auditions of all kinds. Focus on memorization, analysis, performance, and audition protocol. 

ACTING CLASS - THREE WEEK

SUNDAYS AND TUESDAYS - April 14 - 30 

This three-week class introduces the fundamentals of acting and Meisner based acting. Students will learn script analysis, and acting exercises, and memorization technique - all centered around scene study, and the performance  of short scenes. Designed for actors of all levels to give them a strong foundation in acting and theory, and to provide the tools needed for our more advanced classes.                                                           Sundays 10am - 1pm, Tuesdays 6pm - 9pm. $275

ACTING CLASS - SIX WEEK

A comprehensive scene study and acting fundamentals class designed to take students through our Level One Meisner work and prepare them for ongoing study. Similar to our three-week class, students will be introduced to fundamentals of script analysis and performance techniques while the work multiple short scenes for performance. THIS CLASS PROVIDES ACTORS THE ESSENTIALS TO CONTINUE TO OUR LEVEL TWO ONGOING ACTOR TRAINING. Sundays 10am - 1pm, Tuesdays 6pm - 9pm.


LEVEL TWO PREP - FOR RETURNING STUDENTS

A class designed to prepare returning students from our Meisner Acting Classes to move on to more advances Level Two training. Focus on scene study and analysis and core Meisner acting exercises.
